Does a Florida resident over the age of 65 need a Lobster permit to harvest Spiny Lobsters in Florida?

In Florida, residents who are 65 years of age or older

do not need a recreational saltwater fishing license or a spiny lobster permit to harvest spiny lobsters.

However, they are required to have proof of age and residency with them while participating in these activities, such as a Florida Driver's License or identification card. They can also obtain a free Resident 65+ Hunt/Fish Certificate, which covers these exemptions but is not required.

Even though they are exempt from needing a license, it's essential for all individuals harvesting spiny lobsters to be aware of and follow all other regulations, including bag limits, size limits, and prohibited areas for lobster harvesting.
