The Bonaire Adventure
Fourteen
of us caught a bus & headed to Miami meeting two others.
Waiting to catch our plane which was 2 1/2 hours late.
We arrived in San Jaun, P.R. Missing our connection to
Bonaire. American Airlines put us all 16 of us up in the
Best Western Hotel at the airport. They also gave us
meal vouchers.
The next morning 2 of our party Susan Rolfe & Joe
Matava were sent to St. Martin & then onto Bonaire. We
were all supposed to get on the next plane to Bonaire
later that evening, But guess what, Only Joe & Kay
Arcuni, Richard Rolfe, Bob Waters, Karen Simonsen &
Jerry Freeze made that flight on stand by. The
Anderson's, Kerchner's, Miller's & Bianca Ryder & Todd
Welle spent another night at the airport. We were then
booked on a flight to Aruba & spent the day there. We
caught a late flight to Curacao & arrived in Bonaire at
Midnight Tuesday morning.
The diving when it started was good. The vis was
about 30 foot & a little milky. Some of us did boat
dives & others did the shore dives. Most of us did dives
right off the pier at the Sandollar Condo. We also got
in a few night dives.
We have a new Diver, Richard Rolfe got his open water
Certification & did about a dozen dives. Congrats
Richard.
Friday most of us took our leave of diving & did a
tour of the Island. We got in a few hours of shopping &
then it was onto a local eatery for our last meal in
Bonaire.
Saturday morning it was onto the Bonaire airport.
Then onto San Juan, P.R.
Getting back to Miami late afternoon. Larry Kirchner,
some how left his computer in San Juan, TSA Custom's
checkpoint. Hope he can get it returned. We caught the
bus for our return trip home. The bus made a wrong turn
& crashed into a low overhead at the airport. We finally
got home about 7 PM Saturday night.
What an adventure. |
