The national day of Ireland was celebrated in true
tradition at the Caloosa Dive Club last Thursday.
Our very own Decorating Diving Diva's, Bianca and Kitty,
transformed the Rotino Center into “Ireland”, all
decorated in Irish Folk-lore. Everything looked Great,
Thank you.
Soon the CDC’S Lads and Lassie's were arriving, all
dressed in green, carrying scrumptious pots of gold,
(and in our case food), to feed all the Leprechaun’s.
Speaking of Leprechaun’s, if there was an award for
"Best Dressed Leprechaun” that would of gone to our very
own Ray Smith.
Then came “Leprechaun Lew” with the 50/50, which by the
way, that night, was won once again by Charlie Coleman.
The Luck of the Irish was with him. Congratulations,
Charlie….
With the smells of freshly cooked Cabbage and Carrots
lingering in the Irish air, our members and guests were
eagerly waiting for dinner, consuming a wide variety of
delicious appetizers........
Soon the cabbage was ready and we all began indulging in
the Irish cuisine only “Our” dive club could put
together.
Starting with an array of gorgeous salads, with the
sorts, of Broccoli salad (which was absolutely
Deeeelicious) from Barry and Priscilla Erhardt, to a
Asian Broccoli salad, which I think was made by the
hands of Lynnan Grissinger, to a lovely green jello mold
from our very own Linda Smith. Then came the freshly
cooked cabbage and carrots, followed by corn beef cooked
by Janet and Bob Miller, Joann Nucifora, Dawn Steedman
and Linda Smith. (Tank you) (That’s Dive Club Talk).
Next we were greeted by a variety of green beans,
broccoli and potatoes of all different flavors, like
mashed, boiled, pars lied, scalloped and even cheesy.
Next we were met with an Irish Soda Bread, made by mom,
and in this case it was made by Nick Simone’s mom,
who unfortunately couldn’t be with us, because she under
the weather. Nick, please tell Mom, Thank You, we really
enjoyed the Irish Soda Bread she made.
At last we were met with DESSERTS. And in true Caloosa
Dive Club tradition. There were all different kinds of
dessert, there were round ones, square ones, tall ones,
and GREEN ones, but my favorite was the Crunchy Oatmeal
Cookies. Thank you to who ever made them because it’s
been a long time since I have had that good of a cookie,
they were great! As well as all the other desserts too.
Finally it came time for our fearless leader to talk.
First he Thanked all those involved with the preparation
of tonight’s dinner. Then a special thanks went out to
our very own “AV Guy”, Jonathon Peer, for all that he
does with music and that sound system stuff.
Then Todd Thanked Gene Walerych for the donation of that
beautiful Wooden Chest that was auctioned off. Which by
the way was won by, Holly Simone. Congratulations Holly!
My Thanks goes out to all those that help set-up, but
especially to Ron and Christian for coming early and
helping set-up the tables and stuff.Until next
time...........Have a Great Life........
