Bob Miller reports
Went back to Key Dives at Bud & Mary's. Islamorada, Fl.   Had 4 great dives over the weekend.

There were 1 foot seas along with a bright sunny day which made a great 2 days of diving.

The divers were Bob & Janet Miller, Frank Panhuise, Bob Waters, Barry Donegan, Jan Desch, Bob Barger, Clint Dawson & daughter Cecilia, David & Uschi Lanier, Randy & Kim Didier & daughter Brittney,  Mike & Ruthanne Bush.  We had 4 bubble watchers Carmela, Barbara & 2 Dawson family members.

Saturday we dove Capt's Foolish Reef & Cuda reef. Bob Miller got his first lobster ever & 2 others to round out dinner.  He threw back 4 for being to short.  No one else bagged the little critters. Bob was willing to give out lessons for $25.00. No Takers.

Saturday night 15 of us went to dinner & than sat under the stars & listened to live music. Some of the group went to the all you can eat seafood buffet. Dive skins got a little tight for the Sunday dive. Reef shot photo provided by Bob and/or Janet Miller.

Sunday we dove Crater reef & no name reef.  Bob got 2 more lobster & David Lanier got his first 2 lobster. Randy Didier & Mike Bush brought back a whole string of  Fish.  Look out Rich - got 2 more hunters out there.

Barry & Frank came back with all their equipment.

Great Vis. While on the bottom you could see the bubble watchers taking a dip & doing some snorkel time.

All the other divers reported having great dives on great reefs with up to & over 1 hour of bottom time. The camera's were clicking with gusto in preparation for the closing of the photo contest.  Look out Penny.

Hoping to go back next year around the same time for lobster, spear fishing & photo's.  Key Dives should have their new boat by then. Diver photos provided by Carmela Donegan.

July 30 & 31, 2005

After a year-long delay courtesy of Hurricane Charley, we finally got back to Islamorada for some diving.  This was our first trip with Bud N Mary's Dive Center so we didn't know what to expect.

The weather was good and not much in the way of current or chop. In fact, even our usual rail huggers, had a great day.  On both Saturday and Sunday, there was at least one dive that allowed our hunters to hone their skills. Although the fish in this area of the Keys aren't nearly as big as our Gulf fish, there were a few successes. The photographers did their share of hunting too and even with the limited visibility and surge on the first day, we're sure there will be some entries in the photo contest. Sunday gave us a repeat on nice weather and great visibility too. We weren't able to visit the Eagle on either of these days so it was a total reef dive weekend. Photo by Carmela Donegan.

We must be getting a little spoiled in our charter trips. Generally, when we own the boat, we have lots of room to spread out and organize our gear. Unfortunately, this boat was very crowded with little room for storage of gear bags and virtually no place for cameras on the deck.

Without the able assistance of our Bubble Watcher/Snorkeler contingent, we would have had a hard time getting coordinated at all but as always, they helped us find places to tuck things and shuffled gear to make room.

How bad was it??  We were not able to perform our traditional Mexican Fin Dance while waiting to arrive at the dive site! The dive operators also tried to limit our dives to 45 minutes instead of the usual 60 minutes given by other places.  Bubble Watchers Photo by Bob Miller
