The Keys - Tavernier - May 12-13, 2007

We found the perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day - a weekend trip to Tavernier and perfect dive weather. Florida Keys Dive Center did a great job taking care of us and making sure we got back on board safely. They took us to some new spots that many of us had not visited before and to an old favorite, the wreck of the Eagle.  Other areas that we visited were Victory Reef, the Sand Trap, and the Sand Pocket. Water temperature is coming up and we hope the 5 ml. suits are coming off soon - 80 degrees on all dives. Some of us made a Friday stop and had two nice dives with Island Ventures in Key Largo. Captains Darrell & Ann Stadler took us to a new site - a deeper reef called Shark Reef and some of the divers did see sharks. The site is protected and we were impressed with the size of some curious groupers that were hiding under the big swim throughs on this reef. We did a second dive at South Carysfort. In all, a successful weekend once again.
