Cayo Costa Weekends

Many club members are also active boaters and they enjoy spending weekends at several anchorages in the local area. Pelican Bay at Cayo Costa is a very popular anchorage (before Hurricane Charley anyway). There is plenty of water even for the bigger boats and it is convenient to Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande for a little different set of reefs & wrecks to visit.

There aren't any formal signups or plans for this weekend but a few weeks before the event those planning to go will ask around to see who is interested. On one night during the weekend, the group gets together and cooks steaks, baked potatoes & salads. Everyone brings their own steaks and food and some snacks to share.

If enough people catch fish (and want to share), there is occasionally a "Fish Fry" on one of the nights.

BYOB - translated - Bring Your Own Boat!
There is always lots of activity on this weekend. You can head over to Cayo Costa to hike the trails or take the trolley to the beach. Boca Grande Pass is nearby and many groups will head out for some diving.
