4th ANNUAL UNDERWATER PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST

WHERE: VENICE BEACH
WHEN: OCTOBER 26th
TIME: 10AM

RULES FOR CARVING CONTEST
  • ALL TEAMS WILL CONSIST OF 2 PEOPLE.
  • EACH TEAM WILL SUPPLY THEIR ALL PUMPKIN. THE BIGGER THE BETTER!!
  • ALL TEAMS WILL USE A DIVE KNIFE ONLY. NO OTHER TYPE OF CUTTING UTENSIL WILL BE ALLOWED.
  • ALL PUMPKINS MUST BE CLEANED AND OPENED PRIOR TO ENTERING THE WATER.
  • ALL CARVING WILL BE DONE UNDERWATER. ZIP LOC BAGS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR DEBRIS
  • ALL TEAMS MUST REPORT TO DIVING DIRECTOR PRIOR TO ENTERING WATER AND THEN UPON EXITING
  • JUDGING WILL BEGIN WHEN ALL TEAMS EXIT THE WATER, NO TIME LIMIT, ONLY LIMIT IS AIR SUPPLY.
  • THERE CAN ONLY BE 1 PUMPKIN PER TEAM.
    THERE WILL BE PRIZES FOR 1st, 2nd AND 3rd PLACES.

(If you need help with ideas for carving images. Look on the beach for Anemone Head.)Directions:

Head to Venice on I 75. Take exit 193 (Jacaranda Blvd.) and head SW (left turn) on Jacaranda. Turn right (second right) on Venice Ave. Stay on Venice Ave until after you've crossed the bridge to the downtown area. Turn left at the second light after the bridge (Harbor). Turn right at the 5th street (Alhambra). Park on the street as close to the dead end as possible. Be careful not to block the driveway to the condo. Keep your dive between the culverts to the south and the three pine trees to the north.
